The 11th Mercedes-Benz GIVE 'N RACE, a running event to spread a culture of giving organised by the Mercedes-Benz Committee for Social Contribution, concluded in Busan, South Korea, with a record-breaking total of 20,000 participants and KRW 1.176 billion in donations.
Now in its 11th year, the Give & Race has been running since 2017, combining donations and running to support vulnerable children and youth in Korea. The race has attracted approximately 131,000 participants and raised KRW 6.6 billion in donations, all of which will be used to support vulnerable children and youth.
The 'Give & Race' was organised as a course passing by Bexco, Gwangalli Beach, and Gwangan Bridge, popular tourist destinations in Busan, and participants could choose from 10, 8, or 3 kilometres. Various entertainment activities such as congratulatory performances by popular musicians, photo zones, and social media events were held on site to encourage participants to run for good.
"We are delighted that the interest in and participation in Give & Race is growing year on year and that we are able to spread the good cause of running and donating at the same time," said Matthias Weitl, Chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Committee for Social Contribution. "This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Mercedes-Benz Committee for Social Contribution, and we will continue to position ourselves as an even more responsible company with a wide range of socially responsible activities."
Since 2020, the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee has provided KRW 1.5 billion of the total funds raised over the past four years to foster promising youth sports talents in Busan and to pay for medical expenses for vulnerable children, and in 2022, it was awarded the 'Busan Sports Merit' Busan Metropolitan Mayor's Award in recognition of its contribution to the development of the local community.
