Genesis has partnered with TMRW Sports to officially sponsor the on-screen goalposts league TGL presented by SoFi ("TGL") as a Founding Partner.
TMRW Sports is a technology venture founded by world-class golfers Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and others to lead the way in sports, media and entertainment.
'TGL' is a new concept of screen golf that is played in a dedicated venue that can accommodate more than 2,000 spectators, with a giant screen measuring 19.5 metres across and 14 metres long, 20 times the size of the screens used in regular screen golf.
The game is played in match play, with both team and individual competitions. Shots longer than 50 yards (approximately 45 metres) are played on a screen, while shots shorter than 50 yards are played on the actual greens in the stadium. The greens are sloped, so the terrain varies from hole to hole.
TGL will launch next year with Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy at the helm, and will feature six teams of top professional golfers competing for the title. The inaugural season will be held at the SoFi Centre in Florida, USA, from January to April next year, with 15 regular season matches, playoffs and a championship. The prize pool is $20 million, which will be awarded in full to the winning team.
The TGL will feature some of the top players on the PGA Tour, including Tiger Woods, defending 2023 Genesis Scottish Open champion Rory McIlroy and 2024 Genesis Invitational champion Hideki Matsuyama. South Korea's Joo Hyung Kim will also be in action.
Genesis is a founding partner of the TGL, the official car partner and electric vehicle partner, and will provide Genesis vehicles for athletes and officials. The brand will also host a 'Genesis Lounge' at the venue, and will display key vehicles in and around the venue to promote the brand in galleries and to audiences in 80 countries around the world.
Having expanded its brand experience on the global stage through sponsorship of major golf tournaments both domestically and internationally, Genesis aims to bring a unique experience to a new generation of players and golf fans through its sponsorship of the TGL.
