Porsche Korea will hold pre-contracting for the Macan Electric at Porsche Centres and Porsche Studios nationwide from 17th September. Scheduled to be launched later this year, the Macan, Macan 4, Macan 4S and Macan Turbo will be priced from KRW 99.1 million, KRW 105.9 million, KRW 114.4 million and KRW 138.5 million respectively.
Four models are available for pre-contract: the Macan, Macan 4, Macan 4S and Macan Turbo. Joining the previously unveiled Macan 4 and Macan Turbo are two new rear-wheel drive models, the Macan and Macan 4S. The Macan focuses on a long range of 641 kilometres (WLTP) and high efficiency, while the Macan 4S is positioned between the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo.
The new entry-level Makan Electric is equipped with a high-voltage battery with a total capacity of 100 kilowatt-hours. Power is transmitted by a rear axle motor with a diameter of 210 mm and an effective length of 200 mm. The electric motor is equipped with a 480-amp pulse inverter (PWR) made of silicon carbide, a highly efficient semiconductor material, to increase efficiency. This reduces switching losses in the pulse inverter and enables higher switching frequencies.
The Macan 4S features a powerful 600-amp silicon carbide pulse inverter. The electric motor has a diameter of 230 mm and an effective length of 150 mm, and the Macan 4S comes with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronic damper control as standard. The chassis is optimised for performance and comfort with an adaptive air suspension with levelling system and height adjustment, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and rear-axle steering.
With launch control engaged, the Macan has an overboosted output of 360 hp (265 kW) and the Macan 4S has 516 hp (380 kW). The maximum torque of the Macan and Macan 4S is 57.4kg-m and 83.6kg-m respectively. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 5.7 seconds for the Macan and 4.1 seconds for the Macan 4S, with a top speed of 220 km/h and 240 km/h respectively. The Macan is 110kg lighter than the Macan 4, giving it a range of 641km (WLTP), compared to 606km for the Macan 4S.
The Makan and Makan 4S have a progressive and timeless design with an optimised drag coefficient of 0.25. Thanks to the 800V architecture of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), the DC quick charge output is up to 270 kilowatts. With a suitable fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 21 minutes.
The Porsche Driver Experience also features a new design and functionality. Combining digital and analogue elements, the Porsche Driver Experience includes an instrument cluster with a 12.6-inch curved display, a 10.9-inch passenger display, a head-up display with augmented reality technology, communication lights and more.
In addition, a new colour, Slate Grey Neo, is available on all Macan models, as are new 20-inch Macan S wheels. A new Off-Road Design Package is also available as an option on all Macan models.
The Makan Electric is the second all-electric vehicle to feature an electric powertrain, following the all-electric sports car, the Taikan. In June, the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo were unveiled for the first time in Korea. For more information on the Macan Electric pre-contract, please visit your local Porsche Centre and Studio.
