The flagship electric sedan of Volkswagen's all-electric ID. family, the ID.7, has scored its highest ever score in the German Drivers' Association (ADAC) car ratings and has been named a "very good" car for the first time ever.
The Allgeminer Deutscher Automobil-Club (ADAC) is Europe's largest automobile association and the authoritative authority on car performance and safety. Every year, top experts and engineers assess more than 100 cars in seven categories and 350 items to give them an authoritative rating.
As the Volkswagen brand's first flagship all-electric sedan, the ID.7 is one of the key models in the Volkswagen electric line-up, combining spaciousness, efficiency and advanced driving assistance. It features Volkswagen's new high-efficiency electric drivetrain with a peak output of 286 hp and a range of up to 700 kilometres on the WLTP per charge, depending on battery capacity.
The ID.7 was rated 'very good' in the following categories: drivetrain (1.0 points), safety (1.1 points), environment (1.2 points) and comfort (1.5 points), and 'good' in the following categories: driving characteristics (2.1 points), body and luggage space (2.3 points) and interior (2.4 points).
The ID.7 received an overall score of 1.5 points and an overall rating of 'very good', thanks to the high weighting of two categories, safety and environment. This is the first time in the history of ADAC car assessments that the ID.7 has achieved the 'Very Good' rating, which is only awarded on a scale of 0.6 to 1.5 overall.
The Volkswagen ID.7 Pro model was used in the evaluation, and its excellent energy efficiency of 5.49 km/kWh combined (18.1 km/kWh/100 km) according to the WLTP was a key factor in its good score. Thanks to its excellent energy efficiency, the ID.7 scored 0.7 points in the 'energy consumption' category and received a full five stars from Ecotest.
A maximum score of 0.6 in the category 'Active Safety and Assist Systems', which assesses advanced driving assistance features, also contributed to this result. The ID.7, which is available from 53,995 euros, is particularly affordable compared to other models that have achieved the highest overall scores in previous ADAC car assessments, demonstrating the outstanding technical, commercial and refinement qualities of Volkswagen's electric vehicles.
"For the protection of consumers, ADAC conducts objective and unrestricted assessments, regardless of vehicle class or price, using modern test facilities and precise evaluation methods," said Dino Silvestro, Head of Automotive Evaluation at the ADAC Technology Centre. "We are pleased that the ID.7's results prove that safety, efficiency and comfort are not a matter of price."
