Authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer Hansung Motors has successfully concluded the "Break your Speed Limit!" amateur racing competition for AMG Playground club members at the AMG Speedway from 14-15 May.
The AMG Playground is a community club launched by Hansung Motors in June 2020 exclusively for Mercedes-AMG owners, offering a variety of activities to convey the AMG brand values, such as the experience of high-performance cars with racing DNA and the 'racing spirit'.
The inaugural programme of the '2024 AMG Playground', "Break your Speed Limit!", consisted of two sessions: the 'Newbie' for members who are new to the AMG Playground and the 'Amateur Racing Competition' to test the racing skills of experienced club members.
The amateur racing competition programme consisted of three categories: 'Relay Race' for teams, 'Time Attack' for individuals with the fastest lap times when driving solo, and 'Gymkhana' for the fastest lap times around obstacles, with team and individual champions being crowned based on the combined score of their lap times in each category.
Hansung Motors is the first and only Mercedes-Benz dealer in Korea to run the 'Amateur Racing Competition', which is held on an FIA (International Automobile Federation) certified circuit in the capacity of an amateur rather than a professional racer. In this event, the club members were able to drive the full course of the circuit without a lead car, allowing them to experience the overwhelming thrill and excitement of motorsport like nowhere else.
Considering the club members' familiarity with the circuit, Hansung Motors held a practice session to familiarise them with the entire course before the competition began, as well as safety training and information on the competition rules. After successfully completing the training, the members were issued 'Everland Speedway Driving Licences'.
