Kia is expanding its eco-friendly mobility ecosystem with the launch of its new electric vehicle sharing service 'Weeble Biz' in Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, from 15th (Monday).
The Weeble Biz model being introduced in Paju City consists of 10 Niro EVs. They will be used for business purposes by Paju City Government officials during weekday business hours, and paid for and used by local residents and local government officials at night and on weekends.
Weeble Biz is an eco-friendly sharing service that allows companies and organisations to subscribe to electric vehicles for a set number of hours during the week for business use, while individuals use the cars for commuting or weekend leisure. Electric cars can be booked through a mobile application and can be conveniently picked up and dropped off at dedicated parking areas without the need for keys. It is characterised by maximising the convenience of users and managers by providing customized vehicle management, charging, and IT solutions in addition to vehicle use.
The economical and convenient use of electric vehicles has been utilised in various local governments, including Gwangmyeong and Hwaseong in Gyeonggi-do and Gyeongsangnam-do. Kia expects the new operation of Weebble Biz in Paju City to expand the spread of electric vehicles and contribute to reducing carbon emissions. It is also expected to help reduce the number of private cars and optimise parking spaces.
A Kia official said, "We expect to contribute to the activation of eco-friendly shared mobility in Paju City through the operation of Weebble Biz, and we will strive to expand it nationwide in the mid- to long-term to take the lead in creating an eco-friendly mobility ecosystem in Korea."
Meanwhile, Kia is accelerating the expansion of mobility solutions for B2G/B2B under its corporate vision of 'Sustainable Mobility Solutions Provider'. To this end, the company plans to expand Weeble Biz to more than 40 public sectors in Korea by 2028 and operate more than 500 electric vehicles nationwide.
