The Korea LPG Association is recruiting 'LPG 1 tonne truck supporters' to participate in LPG truck promotion activities to spread eco-friendly LPG trucks.
The LPG 1 Tonne Supporters are a group of freight forwarders who share their experiences of driving LPG trucks with the online community and social media channels. Applications will be accepted via the LPG Trucks website event page and will be open from 18th to 24th of this month.
The inaugural LPG 1-tonne Truck Supporters is designed to promote the benefits of LPG trucks, which are now leading the 1-tonne market after the end of diesel trucks. All new Porter2 and Bongo3 LPG drivers are eligible to apply.
The selected supporters will have two months from April to May to complete the project. They will be asked to share their experiences of driving LPG trucks and long-distance or cargo-loaded journeys with the online community. The top 20 supporters will receive KRW 600,000 worth of activity fees and KRW 100,000 worth of LPG refuelling, with additional rewards for outstanding supporters.
The new LPG truck, which was launched in November last year, is equipped with a 4-cylinder 2.5L turbo LPG direct injection (LPDi) engine with 24hp more power and the same torque as a diesel engine in the same class. It is also economical, saving approximately KRW 500,000 in fuel costs based on 18,000 km per year, and is eligible for discounts at public parking lots (30~50%) and airport parking lots (20~30%) nationwide as one of the three low-emission vehicles.
LPG vehicles emit 93 per cent less nitrogen oxides, a major contributor to fine particulate matter, than comparable diesel vehicles, making a significant contribution to improving air quality. If 100,000 diesel trucks were replaced by LPG trucks per year, it would reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 1.06 million tonnes.
"As real LPG truck drivers are highly satisfied, we organised the Supporters Programme to share their experiences with the public," said Lee Ho-joong, President of the Korea LPG Association. "We hope that the superior driving performance and economy of LPG trucks will be more widely known, leading to the reduction of fine dust."
