Lamborghini has made the world premiere of the Temerario, the successor to the Uracán, at the Monterey Car Week 2024 in California, USA, today (16 September). It is Lamborghini's second HPEV (High Performance Electric Vehicle) plug-in hybrid super sports car after the Rebuelto and third high-performance plug-in hybrid model after the Rebuelto and Urus SE.
The Temerario is powered by a new V8 4.0L petrol twin-turbo engine combined with three electric motors for a combined maximum output of 920 hp. It also marks another landmark in Lamborghini's design history, with outstanding aerodynamics and a more spacious interior.
It also introduces the Lamborghini Vision Unit System (LAVU), the most advanced multimedia system in the brand's history, which offers a range of new features and applications to recreate and share the ultimate driving experience.
Stephan Winkelmann, President of Automobili Lamborghini, described the Temerario as "a true fuoriclasse (champion), special and innovative, both in terms of technology and style."
The Temerario combines a V8 4.0L petrol twin-turbo engine with a peak output of 800 hp and three electric motors for a combined maximum output of 920 hp and 74.4 kg-m of peak torque. To maximise the combined power output, we focused on the coordination strategy between the combustion engine and electric motors.
The time from rest to 100 km/h is just 2.7 seconds, and the top speed is 340 km/h. Three electric motors, each producing 147.5 hp, form the core of the powertrain. The car can be driven in all-wheel drive mode by simply rolling the front wheels, and the combination of the electric drive system and the internal combustion engine ensures excellent performance and efficiency.
The engine sound provides a powerful emotional driving experience that is uniquely Lamborghini. It blends with the unique vibrations transmitted by the flat-plane crankshaft to the chassis to create a unique experience that engages all the senses.
The Lamborghini Temerario's intuitive and aerodynamic exterior design completes the image of a futuristic HPEV super sports car. The exterior features new hexagonal daytime running lights and a shark nose design that emphasises the sportiness and muscularity of Lamborghini. The interior uses premium materials, including carbon fibre, to offer both luxury and functionality. An aeronautical-inspired steering wheel and state-of-the-art digital interfaces create a user-friendly experience that allows the driver to be completely at one with the car.
The Ad Personam programme, which offers a wide range of customisation options, ensures the car is tailored to the customer's taste. The weight of the car has been reduced by more than 25kg through the lightweighting package 'Alleggerita', which allows for more downforce and efficiency. The package also includes urea and carbon wheels for optimum performance on the track. New design elements increase rear downforce for improved stability.
The Temerario boasts Lamborghini's most advanced multimedia system to date. With a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 8.4-inch main display, 9.1-inch passenger display, wireless map updates, smartphone connectivity, navigation system and more, it offers the ultimate experience for both everyday and track driving. In addition, new driving modes and a hybrid system combine to provide a driving experience that delivers the best performance whenever and wherever it is needed. The Lamborghini Vision Unit (LAVU) system also enhances the ability to record and analyse driving data with three cameras and a dedicated control unit to help drivers maximise their performance.
With the launch of the Temerario, Lamborghini has reduced emissions by 501 TP3 tonnes compared to the outgoing Huracan. Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman of Automobili Lamborghini, said: "Every new Lamborghini model must outperform its predecessor while maintaining a sustainable carbon footprint. With the unveiling of the Temerario, Lamborghini has once again achieved an important milestone in its electrification strategy, Direzione Cor Tauri (Towards the Heart of Taurus), and has become the first luxury car brand to build a complete hybrid line-up."
