Volvo Cars and Brooklyn, New York-based fragrance brand D.S.&DURGA are introducing SWOODISH, a limited-edition fragrance designed to bring a touch of Swedish nature to anyone, anywhere in the world.
D.S.&DURGA is a niche perfume brand created by husband and wife team and co-founders David Seth Moltz and Kavi Ahuja Moltz. It is known for its unique, non-traditional scents that combine elements of art, music, literature, history and more to tell a story and evoke a particular emotion or mood.
SWOODISH is based on D.S.&DURGA's iconic candle, which blends the calming and soothing trees of a beautiful Swedish forest with soft orris root to create the purple tones of a late summer sunset. SWOODISH is a playful combination of the words 'Swedish' and 'Woods'.
Lisa Reeves, Head of Interior Design at Volvo Cars, says: "Volvo Cars' sensuous ambience is inspired by nature and the brilliance of Scandinavian light. The SWOODISH natural candle, in collaboration with D.S.&DURGA, is our attempt to bring the relaxing warmth of the Scandinavian forest into the home." For this collaboration, the founders of D.S.&DURGA travelled to Gothenburg to experience first-hand the unique design approach and culture of minimalism, simplicity and a focus on functionality found in the Swedish landscape.
"We travelled to Volvo Cars in Sweden, where we smelled the cosy forests and lakes of Scandinavia from the interior of a vintage car and encountered mystical landscapes," says David Seth Moltz, co-founder of D.S.&DURGA. "We also got behind the wheel of one of Volvo's pure electric cars and learnt that they are sleek, well-designed and fun to explore." "SWOODISH will transport anyone to the peaceful and tranquil Sweden of our hearts," says David Seth Moltz.
For a limited time, the SWOODISH candle will be available in select countries on D.S.&DURGA's website (dsanddurga.com) and Volvo Car's Woodish website (VolvoCarSwoodish.com). Volvo Cars will also donate a portion of the proceeds to Volvo For Life Fund partners in collaboration with One Tree Planted, a non-profit organisation that works to protect the environment by planting trees, restoring forests and creating habitats for biodiversity.
