Renault Koleos makes its debut in Busan, exceeds 7,000 pre-orders

Renault Korea has completed the successful debut of the new Renault Grand Koleos at the 2024 Busan Mobility Show, which concluded today.

More than 600,000 visitors to the 2024 Busan Mobility Show visited Renault Korea's stand to see the world premiere of the Grand Koleos and the all-electric Senic E-Tech Electric, which will launch in Korea next year.

The response was particularly strong for the Grand Koleos, which will be launched this autumn. According to our own research, visitors were most impressed by the features that only New Renault Grand Koleos can offer, such as the passenger display and its rich content, as well as its spacious and practical space organisation. They also expressed great satisfaction with the design.

From its unveiling on 27 June to 7 July, 7,135 pre-bookings for the Grand Coréos were received at the Renault Korea booth and at showrooms nationwide during the Busan Mobility Show. Considering that pricing and driving information has yet to be released, this shows the high level of anticipation that customers have for the new Renault Grand Coréos.

Following the Busan Mobility Show, the Grand Corleos will be on display from 8 to 19 July at the flagship Renault Seongsu showroom in Seongsu, Seoul, as well as at major bases across the country, including Starfield Suwon, Dongnae, Busan and Daejeon.

Formerly known by the development project code name 'Aurora 1', the Grand Koleos carries on the success story of Koleos, Renault's first SUV and one of its most successful global models. Inspired by the Latin word 'coleoptera', meaning strength, robustness, etc., the name 'Koleos' is combined with the word 'Grand', meaning grandeur, to signify the brand's most luxurious SUV with a new body size and class-leading rear seat space.

The Grand Koleos brings Renault's core value of 'voiture à vivre' to both driver and passengers. With a class-leading wheelbase of 2,820 mm, it offers a spacious and comfortable rear seat, while its CMA platform and 18% body composed of ultra-high-strength 'hot-press moulded' (HPF) components provide outstanding safety. It is also equipped with up to 31 advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS), with Active Driver Assist, the second level of autonomous driving, as standard on all trims.

Real-time TMAP navigation and voice recognition system NUGU auto are also standard, while wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provides a convenient driving experience. Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) provides continuous over-the-air updates to the vehicle's key electronic systems.

The 'openR' panoramic screen on the Grand Corleos extends the display to the passenger seat for the first time in a domestic model. A total of three 12.3-inch screens flow smoothly from the driver's seat to the passenger's seat. Passengers can also independently access cinema OTT services such as Disney+ and TVing via Bluetooth earphone connection, as well as YouTube, SNS and FLO music streaming services via Naver's 'Whale' web browser. Renault Korea will provide customers with free 5G data for infotainment and connectivity services such as OTT and music streaming in the Grand Koleos for five years (however, usage may be restricted in case of excessive data usage).

The Grand Corleone is available in two powertrains, hybrid and petrol, and a top-of-the-range Esprit Alpine trim inspired by the Renault Group's authentic sports car brand, Alpine, is also new to the Korean market. The new version of the E-Tech hybrid system in the Grand Corleone combines a hybrid-dedicated in-line four-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol turbo engine with a class-leading battery (1.64 kilowatt-hours) and a multi-mode automatic transmission. The system's peak output is 245 hp, the highest in the class. The petrol model offers a dynamic driving experience with a straight-four 2.0-litre petrol turbo engine (211 hp and 33.1 kg-m of peak torque) and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). For the petrol Esprit Alpine trim, a 4WD model is available alongside the front-wheel drive 2WD model.

In the meantime, Renault Korea will be showcasing and signing the agreement at Renault Korea showrooms nationwide, with prices for the Grand Koleos to be revealed in mid-July.
