Honda Korea launches online pre-booking for three sports motorcycles including CBR600RR

Honda Korea will open online pre-booking for the CBR600RR, a supersport motorcycle that incorporates technology from MotoGP racing machines and meets stringent environmental regulations, and the CBR650R and CB650R, road sport motorcycles that have been upgraded with Honda's first E-Clutch, on the official Honda Korea Motorcycle website from 12 August.

The CBR600RR inherits the racing technology of the MotoGP race machine Honda RC213V, while applying the know-how gained through the development of the flagship CBR1000RR-R to its design. The design features mass centralisation and aerodynamic performance enhancements to reduce drag and make the body easier to control at high speeds.

The power unit is a in-line 4-cylinder 599 cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC 4-valve engine, which fully meets the enhanced environmental regulations (Euro 5+) while delivering class-leading high performance. It delivers a peak power output of 121 hp at 14,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 6.4 kg-m at 11,500 rpm. It also features high-revving and intake airflow efficiency and a throttle-by-wire system for maximum usability.

It is also equipped with a host of safety technologies and driving assistance electronics. An Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) with nine levels of intervention, three riding modes and a quick shifter make this supersport model safe and enjoyable for everyone to handle.

The CB series is Honda's flagship on-road sport series, which has evolved over 65 years from its first model, the Benley Supersport CB92, and is loved by riders around the world, from beginners to experienced sports bike riders.

The upgraded CBR650R has racing-inspired supersport styling with sleek lines from the low-set front cowl to the sharply rising tail. The redesigned middle cowl features a layered structure for a comfortable ride at speed, while the aerodynamic bodywork creates the aggressive, bold silhouette of a supersport motorcycle.

The new CB650R features Honda's 'Neo Sports Café' styling, which combines the distinctive and refined style of a classic naked with the power and performance of a sport roadster. In line with the new design concept, the new CB650R features luxurious metallic textures, circular LED headlights characteristic of naked bikes, and a rear design that showcases its dynamism.

The power unit of the CBR650R and CB650R is a Euro 5+ compliant, in-line four-cylinder, 649㏄ liquid-cooled DOHC engine that delivers peak power of 95 hp (12,000 rpm) and peak torque of 6.4 kg-m (9,500 rpm), while the camshaft timing has been changed compared to the previous model to improve torque in the low-to-mid RPM range. It also features a range of advanced equipment, including an assist-and-slipper clutch that reduces fatigue in the city or on long tours, and Honda Selectable Torque Control that can be switched on and off.

The most significant change to the new CBR650R and CB650R models is the introduction of Honda's industry-first Honda E-Clutch. Honda E-Clutch is an electronic clutch control system that eliminates the need for clutch lever operation on manual transmission motorcycles. Riders can easily control gears by simply using the throttle, brake and shift pedals, making riding more comfortable for riders of all levels, from beginners to veterans. When the clutch lever is engaged, the E-Clutch system is deactivated and the bike can be ridden like a conventional manual transmission model.

The mechanism of the Honda E-Clutch system is the same as that of a conventional manual single-clutch, manual transmission. It transmits engine RPM, throttle opening, gear position signal, shift pedal load, clutch release signal, meter indicator signal, front and rear wheel speed, and the ECU's calculation results to the MCU (Motor Control Unit). This allows the clutch to be fine-tuned quickly in various situations such as starting, shifting, and stopping for smooth driving.

The three new sports motorcycles will be available for online pre-booking only. Customers who wish to pre-book can do so from 12 August via the official Honda Korea Motorcycle website.

The CBR600RR will be available in a single colour, Honda Racing's iconic Grand Prix Red, with a pre-booking price of £17.9 million.

The CBR650R will be available in two colours - Matt Black and Red, the CB650R MT will be available in Matt Black and Red, and the CB650R E-Clutch will be available in Matt Black, Matt Green and Grey. The CBR650R MT is priced at £12,288, the CBR650R E-Clutch at £13,348, the CB650R MT at £11,188 and the CB650R E-Clutch at £12,248 for pre-order.

Honda Korea will also be running social media events to celebrate the launch of the three sport models. From 12 August to 16 August, customers who comment on the video content of the launch models on Honda Motorcycle's official YouTube channel will be entered into a lottery to win a genuine Honda riding leather jacket and other prizes.
