Lotus reveals further specifications for 900bhp all-electric sedan Emeya

Lotus has unveiled the detailed specifications of the Emeya. Emeya is the brand's first electric sedan, combining all of Lotus' 76 years of engineering and design expertise and innovation.

With its dual-motor AWD system, the Emeya produces more than 900 horsepower and accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 2.78 seconds (Emeya R). Overtaking acceleration from 80 to 120 kilometres per hour is also just under two seconds.

The Emeya also boasts outstanding aerodynamics with an active front grille, rear diffuser and rear spoiler. All of this, combined with a low centre of gravity, dubbed 'Hyperstance', improves driving stability, while delivering exhilarating handling and the comfort of a flagship sedan, setting new standards in the GT segment.

In particular, the Emeyaen has eight air vents throughout the body to manage airflow. This improves driving performance and range per charge, while also increasing cooling of the brakes, motor and battery. This is why the power output of over 900 hp can be reliably controlled. In addition, the Emeya has a drag coefficient of just 0.21, the lowest in a production car.

It's not just the driving performance that's noteworthy, but also the 'brains'. This is thanks to its next-generation software powered by dual NVIDIA DRIVE Orin. In addition to maximising the car's safety, it also supports over-the-air updates, allowing drivers to keep the car up to date without having to visit a service centre.

The dual NVIDIA Drive Orin system is particularly capable of processing data. Combined with a variety of sensors, including four LiDARs, 18 radars, seven 8-megapixel cameras and five 5-megapixel cameras, it can scan for obstacles up to 200 metres around the car, even in dark roads and bad weather conditions. In other words, Emeya has all the bases covered for 100% autonomous driving.

The Emeya's electronically controlled air suspension also stands out. A camera senses the road ahead and adjusts the damping force of the dampers at a rate of 1,000 times per second. This design ensures a plush, comfortable ride that is typical of a flagship saloon on the open road, and dynamic performance worthy of the Lotus badge on the bends.

Emeya has a generous range of 610 kilometres per charge according to the WLTP, and with 350-kilowatt DC fast charging, it can go 150 kilometres in just five minutes. The battery can also be topped up to 80% in less than 18 minutes.

In particular, Emeyaen incorporates a range of sustainable materials to reduce its carbon footprint. These include PVD aluminium, as well as threads made from Alcantara, UltraFabric PU and recycled fibres. In addition, the sound system was developed in collaboration with British premium audio brand KEF. It features the multi-award-winning Uni-Q® speaker design, Uni-Core™ space-saving subwoofer enclosure and Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound.

You'll also notice the segment-leading high-tech equipment. The driver's windscreen features a 55-inch augmented reality (AR) head-up display (HUD) that brings a wealth of driving information to the fore. The 15.1-inch HD OLED display in the centre of the centre fascia not only boasts stunning image quality, but also features the Lotus Hyper OS infotainment system, which offers a range of specialist features including the Unreal gaming engine.

"We've built on everything Lotus has achieved to date to create a high-performance luxury car for the driver, designing a car that inspires confidence in the driver, a car that connects the driver's pure emotion and enjoyment to the road," said Ben Payne, Vice President, Lotus Group Design.
