Hyundai Motor Group electric vehicles sweep global automotive awards

Hyundai Motor Group electric vehicles have won awards in 48 categories in 13 countries at automotive awards around the world over the past six months. In particular, dedicated EV models with Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP have been particularly successful.

Three years after its launch as a dedicated EV platform, E-GMP has become a core technology that completes the productivity of Hyundai Motor Group's exclusive EVs by applying body structure and chassis optimised for EVs, high-speed motors, and high-density battery cells. In addition, it is equipped with an 800V charging system that can charge from 10% to 80% within 18 minutes using an ultra-fast fast charger, and can travel 100km with a 5-minute charge.

According to a ranking of electric vehicle range per hour of charging released by US automotive website edmunds in November last year, the first three spots were all E-GMP-based EVs, with five models in the top 10 (1,397 km for the Ioniq 6 rear-wheel drive model, 1,238 km for the Kia EV6 rear-wheel drive model and 1,230 km for the Ioniq 6 all-wheel drive model).

Recently, Fueleconomy.gov, a joint U.S. Department of Energy-Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fuel-saving information site, ranked the IONIQ 6 Long Range Rear Wheel Drive model (18-inch wheels, 140 MPGe combined) as the "Most Fuel-Efficient Vehicle," with seven E-GMP-based vehicles in the top 10.

The Kia EV9 won a total of 17 awards, including the 2024 North American SUV of the Year, the 2024 German Car of the Year in the Luxury category, the 2024 UK Car of the Year, the 2024 Danish Car of the Year, the Innovation of the Year Award, and the 2023 Top Gear Family Car of the Year.

IONIQ 6 was recognised for its merit with seven awards, including German Car of the Year 2024 New Energy, Irish Car of the Year 2024, Scottish Car of the Year 2024 and UK Car Family of the Year 2024. IONIQ 5 was recognised in eight categories, including Singapore Car of the Year 2024, India Car of the Year 2024 in the Green Car category and the Cars.com 2024 Best Electric Car in the US.

The Genesis GV60 has been recognised in three categories, including the 2024 China SUV of the Year and the 2023 What Car Best Large Electric SUV of the Year.

The high-performance line-up was also recognised with awards for the Ioniq 5 N (Top Gear Car of the Year 2023) and EV6 GT (Scotland's Car of the Year 2024 in the Performance Car category). The IONIQ 5 N was also named 2024 Car of the Year by both the Korea Automobile Journalists Association and the Korea Automobile Professional Journalists Association.

Hyundai Motor Group has also been recognised for its outstanding electrification technology, with its internal combustion engine-based electrified models, including the Hyundai Kona Electric, Genesis G80 Electric, and GV70 Electric, winning numerous awards.

"We are delighted that Hyundai, Kia and Genesis electric vehicles have been recognised at a number of prestigious awards ceremonies," said Hyundai Motor Group officials. "We will continue to strengthen our position in the electric vehicle market with more competitive electric models.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group is offering a variety of benefits to its customers in order to expand the use of electric vehicles with excellent product quality.
