Toyota Motor Corporation donates KRW 80 million in scholarships to Ajou Automotive University

On 19 March, Toyota Motor Corporation of Korea presented a scholarship of KRW 80 million to Aju Automotive University to foster motorsport talents who will lead the future of the automotive industry.

The scholarship, which is part of the TOYOTA Technical Experience Programme (T-TEP), Toyota Motor Corporation's social contribution initiative to foster professional talent in the automotive field, was handed over at AJU in Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do, in the presence of Manabu Konyama, President of Toyota Motor Corporation of Korea, and Lee Soo-hoon, President of AJU, and about 60 other officials.

Since signing the T-TEP MOU in 2020 with Aju National University, the first university in Korea to open a motorsport major, Toyota Motor Corporation has been working together to foster automotive professionals by opening an electrification training academy and donating vehicles and parts for training. In addition to awarding scholarships to outstanding students to foster motorsport talent, the scholarships will be used for a training programme in Japan to visit the Super Taikyu Series, Japan's leading endurance race, which is scheduled to be held in May, to gain a better understanding of motorsport.

Along with the scholarship handover ceremony, the 'TOYOTA & LEXUS EXPERIENCE DAY' was also held on the same day. The Toyota & Lexus Experience Day was a special brand experience programme for the students of the Toyota electrification class at AJU, and consisted of various contents such as ▲ Toyota and Lexus electrification technology education ▲ electric vehicle model test drives and circuit programmes ▲ and a job fair. In particular, at the job fair, employees from official Lexus dealerships participated in the event and provided information on the company's 2024 recruitment plan, vision, and working environment.

Toyota Korea is also engaged in various social contribution activities to become a corporate citizen that is loved by its customers, including T-TEP, an industry-academia-education programme to foster young talent in the automotive sector to lead the future of Korea, the Sejong Dream Orchestra, which sponsors art education for culturally marginalised children and youth in collaboration with the Sejong Arts Centre, and Lexus Creative Masters, which discovers and supports emerging Korean craft artists.
