Toyota Motor Corporation of Korea (Toyota) held a welcome and farewell event for the Korean Youth For Understanding (YFU) and Korean-Japanese annual exchange students at the Lexus Connect2 cultural space.
Now in its 24th year, the YFU Korea-Japan Exchange Student Programme is a global exchange student programme that has been conducted since 2001 in cooperation with Toyota Motor Corporation, Toyota Motor Corporation Headquarters, and YFU Korea-Japan, and a total of 196 students have completed the programme.
The exchange programme is available in two forms: the Long-term Exchange Programme, which allows students to study at a Japanese high school for one year, and the Short-term Exchange Programme, which takes place during school holidays. The programme provides students with the opportunity to learn a language and experience the culture of each country. The selected students will depart for Japan on the 26th of this month for a one-year programme.
The ceremony was attended by the 18th batch of scholars who returned from last year's long-term exchange programme and the 19th batch of scholars selected this year, as well as Hyung-Joon Kim, Director of Toyota Motor Corporation, Sung-Yeon In, Vice Chairman of YFU Korea, and Shin Eui-min, Director of YFU Korea, who presented certificates and encouraged the students as they embark on their new journey.
"Youth, the future leaders of both countries, are expanding the field of public diplomacy by visiting each other and experiencing local cultures," said Hyung-Jun Kim, Director of Toyota Motor Corporation. "Toyota Motor Corporation will continue to actively support the youth who will lead the future through various human resource development activities, including the Korea-Japan Exchange Student Programme."
In addition to the annual exchange student programme between Korea and Japan, Toyota Motor Corporation also contributes to the development of future talent in Korean society through various social contribution activities, including the Miracle of Youth Career Experience and Career Day, which provide career experience for young people, the Sejong Dream Orchestra, which supports arts education for children and youth from culturally disadvantaged backgrounds, and the T-TEP, an industry-academia-education programme to foster talent in the automotive sector.
