Volvo Cars Korea participated in the 'Children's School Traffic Safety Campaign' at Unbuk Elementary School in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and donated 3,300 'yellow cards' (light reflective cards) to the Gangnam Police Station for children's traffic safety.
The 'Children's School Road Traffic Safety Campaign' is a campaign run by the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul to prevent traffic accidents in elementary school child protection zones and to establish a culture of safe walking to school. On the 21st of this month, Volvo Cars Korea and other relevant organisations promoted the 'Three Principles of Safe Walking (Stand, Look, Walk)' to drivers and pedestrians in the child protection zone during school hours through picketing and traffic guidance, and distributed traffic safety items to children on their way to school.
As part of the campaign, Volvo Cars Korea donated 3,300 'yellow cards' to the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul to help improve road safety for children. The yellow cards reflect car headlights and sunlight to increase the visibility of children and help prevent safety accidents. The yellow cards donated by Volvo Cars Korea will be delivered to students at four primary schools in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, including Apgujeong Elementary School, Eonbuk Elementary School, Cheongdam Elementary School and Hakdong Elementary School.
The campaign, which took place on the 21st, was attended by 10 officials, including Lee Mansik, Managing Director of Volvo Cars Korea, Kim Dong-soo, Chief of Seoul Gangnam Police Station, Cho Sung-myung, Mayor of Gangnam District Office, and Kim Hwa-jung, Principal of Unbuk Elementary School.
"As a brand that aims to achieve 'zero' road fatalities, it is meaningful for Volvo Cars to join this campaign," said Mansik Lee, Managing Director of Volvo Cars Korea. "Volvo Cars Korea will continue to take responsibility for road safety and strive to create a safer environment for all members of society, including children."
Volvo Cars Korea will also carry out various social contribution activities that incorporate the brand's core value of 'safety'. In order to improve positive perceptions of childbirth and childcare in Korea and create a society where parents and children are happy, Volvo Cars Korea is working to create a safe and sustainable society by launching the 'Family Safety' campaign with the Korea Childcare Promotion Agency.
