Hyundai unveiled The New Tucson in North America for the first time at the 2024 New York International Auto Show (NYIA) at the Jacob Javits Convention Centre in New York City today (Wednesday, 27 January), marking its official launch.
The Tucson is Hyundai's first partial redesign in three years for the North American market, and with its refined design and extensive list of amenities, the Tucson is sure to meet customer expectations.
"Tucson is a favourite midsize SUV for North American customers, combining design excellence with performance that delivers reliable handling in a wide range of road and weather conditions," said José Muñoz, president of Hyundai Motor America. "Our diverse lineup, including eco-friendly models, will provide customers with a diverse and engaging driving experience."
In addition, Hyundai showcased a number of its globally acclaimed electric vehicles, including the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6 and IONIQ 5 N, as well as the North American debut of the Santa Cruz pickup truck.
Hyundai's new Tucson is characterised by a dynamic and futuristic design; a spacious and smart interior space that has been vastly improved; a diverse line-up ranging from EVs, PHEVs and internal combustion engines; and the highest level of product competitiveness in its class. With a strong and dynamic exterior design and new car-level changes, the interior design combines both luxury and practicality, and the XRT and N lines emphasise a sporty image.
In addition, advanced new driving technologies have been applied to improve driving comfort by enhancing quietness, and overall crash safety performance has been improved through the addition of second-row side airbags and body reinforcements. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid models feature E-Motion Drive, an advanced hybrid system that utilises the drive motor to improve driving performance and ride comfort.
In addition, it has been equipped with various infotainment and convenience features that customers love, such as ▲ Panoramic Curved Display, ▲ Digital Key 2, ▲ Interior Fingerprint Authentication System, ▲ Hyundai Kappa Pay, which seamlessly connects the 12.3-inch cluster and infotainment system, to significantly enhance overall productivity.
At the New York Auto Show, Hyundai also unveiled the world premiere of the 2025 Santa Cruz Sport Adventure Vehicle (Santa Cruz), a North American-only pickup truck. The Santa Cruz is Hyundai's first product enhancement since its launch in North America in 2021, and features a refined design and a host of advanced amenities to significantly improve its appeal.
Hyundai has given the Santa Cruz a bolder, more aggressive exterior design and an interior that emphasises practicality and technology. The company also offers the Santa Cruz XRT model, which incorporates off-road-style design elements.
In addition to applying advanced driving technologies and enhancing safety performance, the new model also features a panoramic curved display, Digital Key 2, interior fingerprint authentication system, Hyundai Car Pay, and over-the-air software updates.
Hyundai Motor Company is celebrating the 26th anniversary of its Hyundai Hope On Wheels (HOWE) campaign to fight childhood cancer at the New York Auto Show. The Hope On Wheels campaign is Hyundai's flagship CSR initiative in the United States and was launched to help end childhood cancer by supporting innovative research and treatment for the leading cause of death among children in the United States.
Hyundai established the Hope on Wheels Foundation with its U.S. dealers in 1998 to support hospitals and research centres for childhood cancer. Hyundai also announced that it will donate $26 million this year to celebrate the 26th anniversary of Hope on Wheels. This brings its cumulative donation to $250 million.
Meanwhile, Hyundai will have an exhibition space of 4,433 square metres (approx. 1,341 pyeong) at the New York Auto Show, which runs until the 7th of next month (local time), and will display a total of 26 vehicles, including the Tucson and Santa Cruz, as well as the Ioniq 6, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 5 N, Kona EV and Santa Fe HEV.
