BMW Korea Future Foundation Launches 'Hope ON School' to Support Good Neighbours and Child Care

On the 20th of this month, BMW Korea Future Foundation, together with Good Neighbours, a global NGO specialising in children's rights, launched the Hope ON School and held a signing ceremony at the Good Neighbours Hall in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.

Hope ON School is the successor to the Hope Sharing School, which BMW Korea Future Foundation and Good Neighbours have been running since 2012 to support children in crisis in Korea. It aims to improve children's physical and mental health and includes detailed programmes that have evolved over the past decade to meet the changing social environment and diverse social needs.

At the Hope ON School agreement ceremony held at the Good Neighbours Hall on the 20th of this month, officials from both organisations, including Heung-beom Ko, Secretary General of the BMW Korea Future Foundation, and Park Jung-soon, Head of the Child Rights Division of Good Neighbours, pledged to work together for the healthy growth of our children.

Starting this year, Hope ON Schools will be expanded to include a wider range of participants and programmes. In addition to the existing elementary school students, some junior high and high school students will be able to participate, and the programme will be based at elementary schools and local children's centres.

In addition, unlike the Hope Sharing School, which provided meals to hungry children during school breaks and focused on physical development programs, the Hope ON School will operate two detailed programs according to the target and purpose, including "Pizza My Heart!", a heart care program for children's psychological and emotional health, and "Together Happiness ON", a child-led planning program consisting of cultural, vocational, and experiential activities to promote happiness. The number of participants will reach 16,300 per year, including indirect education.

"Since the winter of 2012, a total of 61,336 children from 3,189 schools and organisations have been able to enjoy fun holidays and equal educational opportunities through the BMW Korea Future Foundation's Hope ON Schools," said Heung-beom Ko, Secretary General of the BMW Korea Future Foundation. "We hope that the Hope ON Schools, which start anew with this experience, responsibility and anticipation for the future, will serve as an opportunity to foster hope in more children and students."

Meanwhile, the BMW Korea Future Foundation continues to carry out various social contribution activities to foster future talent, such as the 'Mobile Junior Campus', which visits areas with relatively poor educational infrastructure, such as rural schools and mountain villages, to provide science and creative education, and the 'Young Talent Dream Project', which provides career lectures for university students specialising in the automotive industry.
