BMW Korea conducts driving training for paramedics from the Incheon Fire Department at the BMW Driving Centre in Yeongjongdo, Incheon.
The training is designed to enhance the driving competence and safety of fire department paramedics, who are responsible for the lives and safety of the public, by training them how to safely control a car in an emergency situation and accurately respond to dangerous situations.
The driving training is aimed at ambulance drivers from the Incheon Fire Department. The training includes the most basic but important essential driving skills, such as setting the correct driving position using a BMW model, correcting basic posture such as steering wheel grip and manoeuvring, emergency braking training using the maximum braking capacity of the car, and training to deal with understeer and oversteer. Given the specificity of the job, test drives are also conducted using ambulances that are used in actual emergency situations.
Following the first training on 15 April, 18 fire department paramedics have participated to date, and a total of 24 will complete the driving training in four sessions through May.
In 2016, BMW Group Korea held a 'Car Safety and Rescue Seminar' for firefighters to help them conduct safe and quick rescue activities in the event of a traffic accident, and donated seven X5s to the Fire and Disaster Headquarters, the first imported vehicle to be used for inspecting firefighting facilities and saving lives in the event of a disaster. In 2022, Hyundai has contributed to public safety in various ways as a corporate citizen, including the delivery of 1,150 in-car refrigerators to store medicines and bottled water for firefighters in case of emergency dispatch to fire scenes.
