BMW Korea is officially introducing the new X2 to the domestic market, starting with the petrol X2 xDrive20i. It is priced at 68.3 million won (including VAT).
The X2 was the first model to introduce the Sport Activity Coupe (SAC) concept to the premium compact segment. Now in its second generation and six years since the 2018 model year, the all-new X2 combines an elegant and powerful coupé silhouette with innovative digital systems, including advanced driving assistance systems and the latest infotainment system, to create the progressive character of the latest generation model.
The new X2 makes a strong impression with its larger body, dynamic lines and elegant body surface design. The body is 195 mm longer, 5 mm wider and 65 mm taller than the previous generation, and the wheelbase has been increased by 20 mm to provide more seating and luggage space.
The front of the body, angled almost perpendicular to the ground, makes a bold statement of confidence and presence, while the hexagonal BMW kidney grille is a first in the BMW premium compact segment and comes standard with the 'BMW Iconic Glow' radiator grille illumination. This enhances the sporty appeal of the radiator grille and, in combination with the sleekly designed LED headlights, creates a strong presence. The roofline flows seamlessly to the rear, clearly emphasising the BMW SAC's distinctive styling, while the rear spoiler at the end of the roofline adds to the dynamic appeal.
The interior is more spacious than the previous generation and has a contemporary feel with a sporty emphasis. The driver-centred BMW Curved Display, which combines a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with a 10.7-inch control display, is standard, while the BMW Head-Up Display and the floating armrest with integrated gear selector and control panel in a new design provide a futuristic ambience.
New two-tone Veganza sport seats in Atlas Grey and Smoke White accentuate the sporty appeal and come standard with amenities such as two-zone automatic climate control, sports leather steering wheel, power tailgate, Harman Kardon sound system and wireless charging capability.
The X2 xDrive20i, available initially as a petrol model, is powered by a in-line four-cylinder 2.0L petrol turbo engine with a maximum output of 204 hp and a maximum torque of 30.6 kg-m and is mated to a double-clutch 7-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. The intelligent all-wheel drive system, BMW xDrive, provides high traction when travelling off-road or in bad weather, as well as excellent agility and dynamic handling in corners. Acceleration from 0-62 mph is 7.4 seconds and the combined fuel consumption is 10.8 mpg.
The new X2 is powered by BMW's latest operating system, BMW Operating System (OS) 9. BMW OS 9 features a touch-centric, intuitive user interface that makes controlling in-car functions as comfortable and familiar as using a smartphone.
In particular, the latest BMW OS 9 features TMAP-based BMW Navigation for Korea, developed by BMW Korea in collaboration with T-MAP Mobility. Based on online streaming maps, all map information, including the latest traffic conditions, is updated in real time to provide the best route.
In addition, the newly launched BMW Digital Premium offers a wide range of digital experiences that reflect the lifestyles of local consumers. BMW Digital Premium offers a wide range of entertainment programmes, including air conditioning games and the BMW Video app, as well as a variety of domestic and international third-party apps such as Melon, FLO, SBS Gorilla and Spotify, which can be downloaded and used via the BMW App Store.
The advanced driver assistance and parking assistance systems offered in the new BMW X2 xDrive20i provide a high level of safety and convenience for everyday driving and long journeys.
Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go is standard, as is Driving Assistant Professional with frontal collision and forward vehicle, pedestrian and cyclist approach warning, lane keep assist and rear collision warning, and Parking Assistant Plus with Park Assist, Surround View and Reverse Assist.
Following the launch of the X2 xDrive20i, BMW Korea will launch the iX2 eDrive20, an all-electric model, and the X2 M35i, a high-performance petrol model, later this year to provide a diverse line-up of powertrains to suit customers' tastes and lifestyles.
