KG Mobility (KGM) is expanding its electric vehicle line-up with the launch of the new Corando EV, a mid-size SUV electric vehicle.
The Korando EV, which was launched in May as a taxi-only model and then expanded to the general public, is the second model to be introduced in two years, following the upgraded and renamed Korando Emotion, which was launched in February 2022. Since its launch, the Korando Emotion has made waves in the mid-size SUV market, including over-subscriptions for its initial production run, thanks to its cost-effectiveness in line with the concept of popularising electric vehicles.
The biggest changes to the new Korando EV are the increased range and improved driving performance due to the increased motor power. Depending on the region, it is the lowest price of SUV electric vehicles in Korea, ranging from 29 million won (Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam) to 35 million won (Seoul), and boasts an outstanding competitiveness that can travel more than 400 kilometres.
It has a combined maximum range of 401 km (433 km in the city and 360 km on the highway) on a single charge, an increase of 94 km compared to the previous model, thanks to a 12.2-kilowatt increase in motor power. It also delivers powerful driving performance with a peak output of 207 hp and maximum torque of 34.6 kg-m.
The battery is a new-generation lithium iron phosphate (LFP) blade battery with a capacity of 73.4 kilowatts that is highly durable, resistant to external shocks and fire, and comes with an industry-leading warranty of 10 years/100,000 kilometres. It also features an ultra-high tension/high tension body structure with a 74% ratio, eight airbags including far side, and the highest rating of 5 stars from the new car safety organisation EURO NCAP (as of 2019).
A range of safety and comfort features are also available. The E5 model is equipped with the Deep Control package, which includes Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (IACC), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Lane Change Warning (LCW), Rear Cross Traffic Warning (RCTW), Rear Cross Traffic Assist (RCTA), and Safe Exit Warning (SEW), as well as state-of-the-art driving assistance systems such as headlamps, Smart Touch Panel (STPM) for externally controlling functions such as headlamps, doors, tailgate, air conditioning, etc.A 3-inch full digital cluster, 8-way power driver's seat and 4-way power lumbar support for increased comfort.
The exterior design continues the strong yet sophisticated urban SUV image of the Corando Emotion with its streamlined lines, while the new 18-inch diamond-cut wheels add a touch of modernity. The exterior colours are available in a total of five colours, including the newly introduced latte grey, which is highly popular with customers.
Other features include an outdoor V2L (Vehicle to Load) connector that allows you to use a variety of electronic devices outside the vehicle for leisure and outdoor activities, as well as a scheduled charging feature that allows you to receive electricity discounts at certain times of the day for everyday convenience.
The selling price of the E3 is KRW 40.28 million and E5 is KRW 45.44 million after tax benefits, and depending on the electric vehicle subsidy support (KRW 3.99 million from the government), it can be purchased for KRW 35 million in Seoul (KRW 92 million) and KRW 20 million depending on the region, such as Yulleung-gun (KRW 6.75 million) and Hapcheon-gun (KRW 6.38 million) in Gyeongnam.
In addition, under the eco-friendly car benefit, you can enjoy various tax benefits such as reduced registration tax (capped at 1.4 million won), annual car tax of 130,000 won, 50% discount on public parking lots and highway tolls, and exemption from congestion tolls.
The Corando EV also comes with a range of promotional offers.
