A total of four products from Hyundai, Kia and Genesis won the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024, including one grand prize.
The Red Dot Award, organised by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany, is one of the world's top three design awards, recognising excellence in product design, brand and communication design, and design concepts. In the product design category, the winners are selected based on strict evaluation criteria, including design innovation and functionality.
Kia's EV9 has been awarded best of the best in the 'Transport Design (Cars and Motorcycles)' category of the Product Design Awards. The EV9, which won a gold medal at the iF Design Award in Germany in March, has now swept two of the world's top three design awards. Notably, Kia also won the Red Dot Award for Product Design for the first time since the EV6 in 2022.
Since its launch last year, the EV9 has won a string of global awards for its product and design excellence, including World Car of the Year and North American Car of the Year. The EV9 embodies the essence of Kia's design philosophy of Opposites United (the creative fusion of opposites), with its futuristic and luxurious design.
Kia designed the exterior of the EV9 to blend elegant volumes with the majestic image of a traditional SUV. The interior is characterised by the application of the '10 Must Have Items', which uses eco-friendly recycled materials such as corn and sugarcane while phasing out the use of leather.
Hyundai won the award for the fifth-generation Santa Fe, which was introduced in 2023. With its strong and sophisticated exterior, the Santa Fe boasts a spacious interior with a design optimised for both urban and outdoor lifestyles. This reflects Hyundai's design philosophy of pursuing differentiated value through unconventional design for new customer experiences.
Genesis' GV80 Coupe was also honoured for its innovative product design. As Genesis' first coupé, the GV80 Coupé combines the luxury and comfort of a luxury SUV with a distinctive coupé-specific design. Its dynamic and bold silhouette, with sleek sides that look like they're ready to sprint, conveys a sense of high performance.
Hyundai's Multi Lantern won the award in the Outdoor and Camping Equipment category. The multi-lantern is designed with the motif of the Korean tradition of horongbool, which conveys a sense of security and warmth to the user.

"We will continue to strive to satisfy customers' diverse lifestyles and provide meaningful mobility experiences through innovative designs."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group has swept prestigious automotive awards around the world, including winning the World Car of the Year for the third consecutive year, proving not only its design but also its product competitiveness.
