Lotus Emeya achieves record charging time using public charging network.
Emeya can charge from 101 TP3T to 801 TP3T in 14 minutes using a 400-kilowatt (600A capable) DC super fast charger. This is the fastest charging record for any electric vehicle (BEV) to date. The fast charging was validated by German automotive consultancy P3 Group, which recently released its 2023 P3 Charging Index for Asia. Emeya topped the list for the fastest charging speeds in a test of global electric vehicles, including the Mercedes-Benz EQS, BMW i7, Tesla Model Y, Genesis G80 Electric, Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Nio ET5, BYD Ato 3, and more.
Lotus is leading the way in increasing the appeal of electric vehicles by giving drivers the confidence to go wherever they need to go, including long distances. In the charging trials, Emeya reached a maximum charge power of 402 kilowatts and an average charge power of 331 kilowatts, which compares favourably with the maximum charge power of other electric vehicles, and when combined with its WLTC standard efficiency of 18.7 kilowatt-hours/100 kilometres, it can achieve a range of up to 310 kilometres in 10 minutes from the start of charging and up to 458 kilometres in 20 minutes.
Furthermore, Lotus has adopted a 'Cell-to-Back' battery architecture for the EV's ultra-fast charging capability, packing 20% more cells into the same space than a standard modular architecture. In addition, Emeya has applied a new cooling system architecture designed to improve the battery's thermal performance and efficiency.
Lotus is committed to improving the electric vehicle experience for its customers and offering a fully integrated charging ecosystem. In addition to developing its own solutions, including its own app, charge card and ultra-fast DC chargers up to 300V, Lotus is working with Bosch and Mobilize Power Solutions to help expand the infrastructure to make charging easy and reliable for consumers wherever they are. Through the Bosch charging network, Lotus electric vehicle customers will have access to more than 700,000 public chargers in 30 European countries, including the UK. Mobilise helps make the home the primary charging location.
In addition, Lotus is also improving the reliability of charging infrastructure with its own charging solutions. It has developed a suite of charging solutions, including ultra-fast 450-kilowatt DC chargers, power cabinets and modular units that can charge up to four cars simultaneously, and has incorporated state-of-the-art 800-volt charging systems in Emeya and Elektra.
We're also committed to enhancing the charging experience for our customers. This is supported by a dedicated charge card and smartphone app. The Lotus Charge Card allows drivers to tap into the charging network with a single tap, while the Lotus Car App makes it easy to find all the information they need to charge. The app allows drivers to check their charge history or remotely monitor the state of their high-voltage battery. Elétra and Emeya also feature intelligent EV routing in Lotus Hyper OS, the in-car infotainment system, which helps drivers find the nearest public charger or suggests alternative routes during the journey based on real-time battery consumption.
Emeya is an electric hyper GT model developed in line with Lotus' vision to become a global high-performance electric vehicle brand by 2028. It combines Lotus' extensive design know-how with sports car-level performance engineering to set new standards for the look and handling of a luxury electric vehicle. Emeya will be delivered to customers in Europe, including the UK, in the third quarter of this year. The Korean market, which is considered a key market alongside Europe, is expected to follow later this year.
