Volvo EX30 wins 'Best Product Design' at the Red Dot Design Awards

Volvo Cars' EX30 has been awarded 'Best of the Best Product Design 2024' at the Red Dot Design Award. The Red Dot Design Award is a global design award organised by the Design Centre Nordheim Westfalen, Germany, and is one of the world's top three design awards alongside the iF Design Award in Germany and IDEA in the United States.

The EX30 has been named Best Product Design 2024 by a jury of 39 experts from around the world with a total score of 93 (out of 100). The award comprehensively evaluates design excellence based on the basic principles of good design: quality of function, quality of attractiveness, quality of use, and quality of responsibility.

"The EX30 embodies Volvo Cars' design values in a smaller format and embodies premium Scandinavian design where 'form follows function'," said Jim Rowan, CEO of Volvo Cars. "As we transition to the electric vehicle era, the EX30 is the right model for today's market."

Volvo's premium electric SUV, the EX30, was first unveiled last summer to global acclaim. It has since won more than 20 awards, including 'Best Product Design 2024' at the Red Dot Design Awards, 'Car of the Year' by the British newspaper The Sun, 'Small SUV/Crossover of the Year' by The Sunday Times and 'Eco Warrior of the Year' by Top Gear Magazine.

The EX30 is a pure electric SUV built on a platform dedicated to electric vehicles. Its long wheelbase and large wheels give it a balanced and refined look. The use of natural and recycled materials also reflects Volvo Cars' sustainability values. Inside, the interior is spacious and flexible, with everything from storage to controls and screens organised around a centralised theme.

Meanwhile, the EX30 has been well received by customers, with over 1,000 pre-bookings within two days of its launch, thanks to its aggressive pricing. The EX30 is available in Korea with a single 'Single Motor Extended' powertrain with NCM battery, and both the Core and Ultra trims are eligible for the 100% electric vehicle subsidy.
