Volvo Cars Korea held the 2024 Paint Skills Competition at the Paint Training Centre in Eumseong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, on the 27th.
Since 2018, Volvo Cars Korea has been holding a paintwork skills competition to improve technicians' aftersales service capabilities and customer satisfaction. After an online preliminary written examination (preliminary round) for paint technicians at Volvo Cars Korea's authorised service centres nationwide, a practical examination (final round) is held for those with the highest scores.
The final round of this year's Paint Skills Competition saw eight paint technicians selected from a preliminary written test. The contestants were divided into two groups, A and B, and were tested in two categories: 'blending', which is the natural covering of scratches on the car's exterior, and 'matching', which is the accurate combination of exterior paint colours.
In the final round, technician Yoonjoong Kim from Volvo Cars Gangnam Yulhyeon Service Centre took first place. Technician Park Hyung-min from Ivy Motors Jeonju Service Centre and Technician Jung Woo-min from Kolon Automotive Pangyo Service Centre took second and third place respectively. The winners received cash prizes and certificates.
"I would like to congratulate the technicians on their success in this competition," said Kyung Ran Song, Head of Service, Volvo Cars Korea. "Volvo Cars Korea will continue to nurture service talent and strengthen their capabilities to provide differentiated and premium services to our customers."
Meanwhile, Volvo Cars Korea has been investing heavily in improving the quality of customer service. Volvo Cars Korea holds annual dealer awards to recognise service centres and employees who provide the most outstanding service, and has been steadily expanding its showrooms and service centres. As a result, our customer service is unparalleled, ranking first among European brands for the fourth consecutive year in the Consumer Insight Automotive Planning Survey for after-sales service satisfaction.
