Porsche Korea, together with the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation, held a ceremony to award the 'Porsche Future Heritage' grant to support national intangible heritage at the Korean House in Jung-gu, Seoul, on 18 November.

Now in its third year, "Porsche Future Heritage" is part of the "Porsche Do Dream" social contribution campaign, a programme to promote the important national heritage values unique to Korea and to support the systematic transmission of national intangible heritage in an environment that embodies the brand's identity of tradition and innovation.

Porsche Korea is increasing the amount of support to 65 million won this year, following 30 million won last year, and further expanding the scope of beneficiaries. Nine individuals in the functional and performing arts will receive KRW 5 million each, and an organisation in the traditional arts will receive KRW 10 million.

The ceremony was attended by the recipients of the grants, as well as Dr Holga Gehrmann, Head of Porsche Korea, and Mr Choi Young-chang, Chairman of the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation. Together, they shared the importance of cultural heritage transmission and the need for a stable transmission environment where future generations can experience the value of special traditions.

The selected sports include six functional sports such as cast iron furnace, seonjajang, palace market, chiljang, bulhwajang, and tangunjang, and three performing arts such as seodosori, daegeum orchestra, and lyrics. In addition, the National Intangible Cultural Property Gurye Jansu Farm Music Preservation Society and the National Intangible Cultural Property Pearl Sword Dance Preservation Society were selected as organisations.

"It is the responsibility and obligation of the current generation to preserve the perfect technology of centuries-old traditional culture and pass it on to future generations," said Holga Gehrmann, CEO of Porsche Korea. "We will continue to strive to revitalise the transmission of our precious national heritage so that the rich Korean traditional culture can continue to bear fruit, create future value and become another dream."

In addition, Porsche Korea has donated a total of KRW 811 million to the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation for Porsche Future Heritage, including the multidisciplinary cultural education project "Classroom of Dreams" with national intangible cultural property holders and traditional educators, and last year's "1899, a gift to Prince Heinrich", a project to reproduce traditional crafts made in Korea to commemorate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Germany.
