Porsche Turbo for Dreams-Valais, a programme organised by Porsche Korea in conjunction with Green Umbrella, has successfully concluded with a two-week study abroad programme in Stuttgart, Germany, the city of ballet.
Porsche Turbo for Dreams is a new project of the "Porsche Do Dream" social contribution campaign, a talent development programme that provides talented children with the opportunity to broaden their horizons in order to strengthen their personal capabilities and nurture their dreams and passions. Ballet is designed to provide overseas training opportunities for disadvantaged and talented ballet students. It is Porsche Korea's first overseas cultural training programme.
In June, Porsche Korea, together with Green Umbrella and Dance Planner, selected 15 ballet scholarships for ballet majors from fifth grade to second year of high school, and conducted a mentoring programme before their departure.
To foster talent with an international flair, the two-week Overseas Ballet Camp began on 8 July and included master classes with Stuttgart-based dancers and contemporary ballet companies, mentoring from current dancers, cultural immersion, a profile shoot at the Porsche Museum, and a guided tour of the Stuttgart Ballet's John Cranko School. The 15 participants demonstrated their skills and teamwork on stage by performing 'classical ballet solos' and 'modern dance military dances', including the Don Quixote Kitri solo and Esmeralda solo.
At the local German venue, the Theatrehaus Stuttgart, Porsche Korea's Holga Gehrmann attended the performance and delivered a message of support for the camp children's dreams.
"The Korean students' ballet performance brought the joy of global cultural exchange and positive energy to the audience in Stuttgart, the world's leading ballet city and home to Porsche's headquarters," said Holga Gehrmann. "Not only did they create memories that will shape their future, but they also inspired everyone who watched them. We hope that 'Porsche Turbo for Dreams' will contribute to the journey of these talented children in fulfilling their dreams."
In addition to the Turbo for Dreams project, Porsche Korea is also supporting scholarships for future generations through the Porsche Dream Up programme, including those with aptitude for the arts, those pursuing professional qualifications and those preparing for low-income employment.
