Polestar has released its 2023 Sustainability Report, which includes a year-on-year reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of 91 TP3T per vehicle sold.
This represents a reduction of 3.4 tonnes of GHG emissions per unit sold compared to 2022, demonstrating significant progress towards our climate neutrality goal and proving that it is possible to reduce GHG emissions independently of future brand growth. This was achieved through three areas in particular: the use of materials with a lower climate impact; the use of renewable electricity in the production of vehicles and batteries; and improved energy efficiency in the use phase.

In 2023, Polestar focused its efforts on expanding the number of traceable battery hazardous minerals. We significantly increased the traceability of lithium and nickel used in the batteries in Polestar 3, and included cobalt and mica, which we had previously tracked and monitored through blockchain technology since 2020 and 2021, respectively.
Polestar's Sustainability Report provides transparent disclosure of how Polestar has adopted a hands-on approach to improve its ability to identify and address sustainability-related risks. In 2023, Polestar also introduced a digital platform to streamline the collection of sustainability-related data for transparency and compliance with standards and regulations.
