Peugeot Total Energy Team to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Peugeot 9X8

The Peugeot Total Energy Team, which is competing in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), will be going for a fourth consecutive victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 15 and 16 June in Sarthe, France.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the most prestigious endurance race in the world, featuring the longest (13.626 kilometres) and fastest (average speed of over 240 km/h) track in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). It's a race to see who can travel the furthest in 24 hours, with the durability and performance of the car being the most important factor in determining victory.

Peugeot first competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans more than 100 years ago in 1926 and has won the race a total of three times (1992, 1993 and 2009), thanks to its motorsport DNA and technological prowess.

This season, 23 prototypes are competing in the Hypercar class, led by the two 2024 Peugeot 9X8 Hybrid Hypercar (Peugeot 9X8).

The Peugeot 9X8 has been upgraded for the 2024 FIA WEC season following a 10-month development period. It made its debut at the 6 Hours of Imola (Round 2) in April and will demonstrate its exceptional durability and improved performance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a race that pushes the car to the limit.

Prior to the event, the Peugeot TotalEnergy team competed in qualifying on the 12th to qualify the top eight hypercars for the Hyperpole. Peugeot Total Energy drivers Jean-Eric Vergne and Stoffel Vandoorne posted times of 3:26.545 and 3:26.195 in their respective Peugeot 9X8s, but missed the opportunity to improve when the red flag flew two minutes before the end of the race, finishing 16th and 21st in qualifying.

The two Peugeot 9X8s competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be shared by Mikkel Jensen, Nico Müller and Jean-Eric Vergne in the No. 93 entry. The co-driven Peugeot 9X8 No. 94 will be driven by Paul Di Resta, Loïc Duval and Stoffel Vandoorne.
