Hyundai World Rally Team won the sixth round of the 2024 World Rally Championship (WRC) season in Sardegna, Italy, from Thursday 30 May to Sunday 2 June. The Italian Rally, held on Sardinia, Italy's second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, is considered one of the toughest rallies for competing drivers due to its narrow, rough roads and hot early summer conditions.

Hyundai World Rally Team's Ott Tänak, competing in the i20 N Rally1 Hybrid, took first place by just 0.2 seconds from second-placed Toyota driver Sébastien Ogier, giving Hyundai World Rally Team its third victory of the season. Dani Sordo, who won back-to-back Italian Rallies in 2019 and 2020, also completed a double podium with a solid drive to finish third.

Haute-Tanak scored a total of 25 points in the Drivers' standings to move into second place in the Drivers' standings alongside Toyota's Elfyn Evans, while Hyundai World Rally Team retained its top spot in the Manufacturers' standings with a total of 50 points for the performance of its drivers.

Notably, Hyundai World Rally Team's victory not only marks its third consecutive Italian Rally victory, following the 2022 and 2023 editions, but also brings the team's total to seven wins in the twenty-one editions of the Italian Rally since 2004.

Till Wartenberg, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor's N-Brand & Motorsport Division, said: "We are very pleased to have secured our third win of the 2024 WRC season at Rallye Italia, and we will continue to do our best to showcase our N-Brand and motorsport fans."

The WRC is the world's premier motorsport competition organised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), which crowns manufacturers' and drivers' champions based on annual results in a variety of conditions ranging from tarmac to dirt to snow. The 2024 WRC will consist of 13 rounds, with Round 7 taking place in Poland from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 June (local time).
