Jaguar TCS Racing took the podium at the 14th round of the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Portland, USA, on 30 June (local time), securing the top spot in both the World Championship Team and Driver categories.
Jaguar TCS Racing Team's Mitch Evans moved up to second in the Drivers' World Championship standings with a third-place finish at Round 14. Nick Cassidy had a difficult race, having to replace his front wing after multiple crashes during the race, but still maintains a 12-point lead in the Drivers' World Championship.
Jaguar TCS Racing put in a strong performance, taking pole position at Round 13 and a podium finish at Round 14, but two tough races left them disappointed. Despite this, the Jaguar TCS Racing team maintained its lead and is now preparing for the season finale in London on 20 and 21 July. The team is aiming to secure the Team's World Championship title and win the Drivers' World Championship for Nick Cassidy and Mitch Evans.
At the start of the 14th round, both Jaguar TCS Racing drivers were managing their energy. Mitch Evans was running in and out of the top 10, while Nick Cassidy, who started from sixth position, strategically dropped back. By the midway point of the race, both drivers were in a good position in terms of energy, with Nick Cassidy in particular proving to be a strong driver in practice. However, a number of incidents occurred in the closely contested race and on lap 13, a chain reaction from the car in front of him damaged his front wing, forcing him to pit for a change.
The Safety Car was called on lap 18 to clear the debris from the previous incident and the race resumed on lap 20. As soon as the race resumed, Mitch Evans used Attack Mode to cut through the field and quickly moved up to second before finishing third.
James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal, said: "It was a mixed bag of results in Portland with Mitch Evans on the podium being a positive but also a bit of a disappointment. "As always, we'll be looking at what we need to do to get better," said James Barclay, Team Principal, "Our focus is now on the season finale in London. We are currently leading the Team World Championship and are in a strong position in the Drivers' standings with first and second place. We will analyse and strengthen our strategy and give everything we have to win the final race in front of our home crowd in London."
Meanwhile, the season finale of the 2024 ABB Formula E World Championship, Rounds 15ž16, will take place on 20 and 21 July in London, UK.
